Anna Lillian Shorb, age 91, of Fairfield, died on Friday, December 26, 2008, at the Gettysburg Center Nursing Home in Gettysburg.
Born May 22, 1917 in Emmitsburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Fannie (Bollinger) Wagerman. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Andrew Thomas "Bud" Shorb in April 1990.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Emmitsburg, and a member of both Ladies’ Auxiliaries of the V.F.W. Post 6658 and the American Legion Post 121 in Emmitsburg.
Surviving are children and spouses Thomas C. Shorb and wife Loretta of Fairfield, James R. Shorb and companion Nancy of Fairfield, David W. Shorb and wife Karon of Fairfield, and Dorothy A. Gebhart and husband Fred of Gettysburg; grandchildren and spouses Vicky A. Bashore and husband Ken of
Ephrata, Brenda Bernethy and husband Dan of Indiana, Scott Shorb of Gettysburg, Keith Gebhart of Hanover, Stacey Shorb and wife Missy of Ortanna, Tommy Shorb Jr., of Fairfield, and Brandy Shorb of Biglerville; step-grandchildren John Hutzell and wife Tammy of Gettysburg, and Rodney Hutzell of
Fairfield; great-grandchildren Krystal Murphy, Allison, Alexis, T.J., Kala, Jonathan, and Joshua Shorb, Brandon Bernethy; step-great-granddaughter Kirsten Hutzell; brother Emory Wagerman of Emmitsburg, Md., and sister Margaret Solakovitch of Fairfield.
Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings Mary Alice Sanders, John, Sam, and Edgar Wagerman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 47 DePaul Street, Emmitsburg, with the Rev. Stephen P. Trzecieski, C.M. as celebrant. Interment will follow in Emmitsburg Memorial Cemetery in Emmitsburg, Md. The family will
receive friends on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St. Emmitsburg, where the Rosary will be said at 8:00 p.m.
