Mr. Lewis Edward
Hahn, 67, of 107 Eyler Road,
Thurmont, died Monday, May 10, 2004,
at his residence. He was the husband
of Virginia Gay Elder Hahn, whom he
married May 3, 1955.
Born in Emmitsburg, Oct. 15,
1936, he was a son of the late
Clarence Edward and Carrie Elizabeth
Andrew Hahn.
Mr. Hahn attended
Elias Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Emmitsburg
He was employed with Superior
Plus in Frederick. He joined the
company in 1962 when it was known as
Economy Oil. He was respected and
admired by his fellow employees. He
served during the Korean War with
the U.S. Army 101st Airborne
"Screaming Eagles." Mr. Hahn was a
Past Master of Tyrian Lodge 205 A.F.&A.
Masons, and served as Secretary of
the Past Masters Association. He was
a member of Edwin C. Creeger Post
168 American Legion, Thurmont AMVETS
Post 7, and the South Mountain Rod
and Gun Club. He was graduated from
Emmitsburg High School, class of
1954.
Mr. Hahn was an avid golfer, a
NASCAR fan and a hunter. He enjoyed
vacations in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and
spending time with his family and
friends. He was a devoted husband,
father and grandfather.
Surviving besides his wife are
four children, Lewis Edward Hahn,
Trina Gay Keilholtz, Jeffrey Neal
Hahn and wife Karen, and Andrew Wade
Hahn and wife Trish, all of
Thurmont; seven grandchildren, Chad
E. Hahn, Christopher E. Keilholtz,
Ashley M. Keilholtz, Travis J. Hahn,
Cody W. Hahn, Brittney R. Hahn and
Andrew W. Hahn Jr.; one
great-grandson, Colby Evan Keilholtz;
three sisters, Mary Rohrbaugh and
husband Herbert of Emmitsburg,
Carrie Boyd and husband William, and
Shirley Pittinger and husband Larry,
all of Thurmont; and one brother,
Alfred C. Hahn of Deltona, Fla.
Several nieces and nephews also
survive.
He was preceded in death by his
granddaughter, Tiffany Nichole Hahn.
Mr. Hahn is at the Robert E.
Dailey & Son Funeral Home, P.A., 615
E. Main St., Thurmont, where friends
may call Wednesday, May 12 from 1 to
9 p.m. The family will receive
friends on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and
7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A
Masonic Memorial Service will be
held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the
funeral home, by Tyrian Lodge 205.
On Thursday, May 13, Mr. Hahn
will be removed to the Elias
Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 W.
North Ave., Emmitsburg, where
friends may call from noon until 1
p.m. at which time services will
begin. His pastor, the Rev. Jon
Robert Greenstone will officiate.
Bearers will be Chad E. Hahn, Travis
J. Hahn, Cody W. Hahn and
Christopher E. Keilholtz, all
grandsons; and Bruce D. Boyd and
Herbert Rohrbaugh Jr., both nephews.
Interment will be in Blue Ridge
Cemetery, Thurmont.
