Mr. John Little

Mr. John "Jack" B. Little, 67, of
Motter Station Road, Emmitsburg,
died Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Washington
Hospital Center, Washington.
He was the husband of the late
Shirley M. Wilhide Little, his wife
of nearly 40 years.
Born Aug. 16, 1936, in Thurmont,
he was the son of the late Joseph
and Marjorie Lingg Little.
Mr. Little was a member of St.
Joseph's Catholic Church, a member
of the Carpenter's Union, a past
member of American Legion Post 168,
a past member of AMVETS Post 7 and a
past member of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 6658.
He was also a past member of the
Holy Name Society at St. Anthony's.
He served his country in the U.S.
Army where he was a cook.
After leaving the service he was
employed at Mount St. Mary's as a
cook. Later he worked in the
Washington area as a carpenter. In
recent years he was a butcher with
Shriver Meats in Emmitsburg.
Jack loved having fund-raisers
for St. Anthony's Church, St.
Joseph's High School, Mother Seton
School and St. Joseph's Church,
where he showed his talent making
his special sausage.
He is survived by six children,
Tim Little and wife Jean of
Thurmont, Mary Lou Little of the
home, Pam Bolin and husband Ed of
Fairfield, Pa., Tony Little and wife
Jane of New Market, Scott Little and
wife Sharon of Thurmont, and Ed
Little of the home; grandchildren,
Tiffany and Travis Little of
Thurmont, Brandy, Kimberly and Josh
Bolin of Fairfield, A. J., Tina and
Lindsey Little of New Market, and
Sarah, Emily and Scotty Little of
Thurmont; four brothers, Carroll
Little, Leo Little and Philip Little
of Thurmont, and Thomas Little of
Emmitsburg; two sisters, Patricia
Carson of Fairfield, and Betty Boose
of York, Pa.; and many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by four
brothers, Francis, Kenneth, Donald
and Joseph; and two sisters, Mary
Little, who died at birth, and
Catherine Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated Saturday, Jan. 10 at
noon at St. Joseph's Catholic
Church, 47 DePaul St., Emmitsburg.
The Rev. Stephen Trzecieski, C.M.,
will be the celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Joseph's
Cemetery, Emmitsburg.
