Mr. Carroll James Little, 73, of
7532 Franklinville Road, Thurmont,
died Wednesday, Jan. 14 at his
residence. He was husband of Anna
Roselia Topper Little, whom he
married June 30, 1951.
Born June 11, 1930, in
Emmitsburg, he was son of late
Joseph Levert and Mary Marjorie
Lingg Little.
Mr. Little was a member of
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman
Catholic Church, Thurmont,
where he served on the Parish
Council. He retired from the
Thurmont shoe factory.
After retirement he enjoyed
caning chairs, weaving baskets,
wine-making and gardening. Until his
battle of lymphoma, he was very
active in the Thurmont Lions Club.
He served on various committees and
was one of the top raffle ticket
sellers. He is also a member of the
Knights of Columbus and a past
member of the National Federation of
the Blind in Maryland.
Surviving in addition to his wife
at home are three daughters, Judy
Miller and husband Gary of Thurmont,
Joann Kneer and husband Keith of
Walkersville, and Linda Carty and
husband Larry of Thurmont; four
grandchildren, Mark Miller of
Thurmont, Daniel Miller and wife
Stephanie of Waynesboro, Pa., and
Amy Kneer and Andrea Kneer, both of
Walkersville; two
great-grandchildren, Kyle and Dylan,
both of Waynesboro, Pa.; three
brothers, Leo Little and wife Mary,
Phil Little and wife Ann, all of
Thurmont, and Thomas Little and wife
Dorothy of Emmitsburg; and two
sisters, Patricia Carson of
Fairfield, Pa., and Betty Boose and
husband Daniel of York, Pa.; and
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five
brothers, Joseph Little, Francis
Little, Kenneth Little, Donald
Little and Jack Little; and two
sisters, Mary Little and Catherine
Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will
be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19
at St. Anthony's Shrine Parish,
16150 St. Anthony Road, Emmitsburg,
with his pastor, the Rev. James
Hannon, as the celebrant.
Interment will be in Mount Carmel
Cemetery, Thurmont.
Bearers will be Gary Miller,
Keith Kneer and Larry Carty, all
sons-in-law; Mark Miller and Daniel
Miller, both grandsons; and Patrick
Little, a nephew.
