Music, Gettysburg! Announces Concert of Favorites by its Most Familiar Performers

(10/40) What if you were told that Felix Hell, Wayne Hill, Mike Matsinko, Andrew and Kathleen Rosenfeld, Kathleen Sasnett, Duane and Karen Botterbusch were going to be in concert for Music, Gettysburg!? You might think that it was an all-star cast, and you would be right. But that doesn't even cover the first half of the concert slated for Sunday, October 9th at 4pm in the Lutheran Theological Seminary's chapel.

Music, Gettysburg! will present a concert of many of its favorite regular performers, offering favorites of their own, in a concert to benefit the renovation of the extraordinary Seminary Chapel that hosts the free concert series. These musicians are donating their talent for the sake of the greening and refurbishing of the chapel space, which is undergoing a conversion of its heating and cooling systems, placing new flooring and refinished pews in the 70 year old structure.

Concert goers will hear these musicians and more, including the Schola Cantorum, Cormorants Fancy, Stephen Folkemer, Margaret Folkemer, Ed Stanley, Jeffrey Fahnestock, Tim Sestrick, Chad-Alan Carr and the Adams County School of Musical Theatre, the Gettysburg Children's Chorus, Peter Johnston, David Conklin, Mary George, and more.

This concert series, in its 32nd year, will present an unprecedented slate of performers, and Jeffrey Gabel, founding Executive Director of the Majestic Theatre and long term member of the Music, Gettysburg! Steering committee will narrate the concert.

Like all of its concerts, this one will be free and open to the public. Since its inception in 1980, Music, Gettysburg! has presented more than 400 free concerts and brought music of the highest caliber from near and across continents. It has done so because of the generosity of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg, its partners, corporate sponsors and hundreds of individuals who support the program.

This concert will include the music of J. S. Bach, Mozart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Manfredini, Lully, Andrew Lloyd Webber and more. In fact, the concert will conclude with the singing of George Frederic Handel's Hallelujah Chorus from "The Messiah" giving opportunity for those in the audience who possess their own, to bring their scores with them and sing along with the choral voices and instrumentalists.

Proceeds from this special benefit concert will go toward the $1 million renovation underway, the first of two phases of planned renovations. A later phase, one funded, will add ADA compliance and comfort and safety in the form of new restrooms and accessible entrances.

Music, Gettyburg! is a premier free concert series featuring the finest regional, national and international musicians hosted by the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg.
