Gettysburg Seminary host Ugandan Song and Dance Troupe "The Predestined"

(9/7) Gettysburg Seminary will host a performance of a touring song and dance troupe from Uganda, named "The Predestined," on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 7pm in the seminary’s chapel.

The Ugandan song and dance group founded in 2001 by Action for Empowerment (AOET) mixes African, R&B, hip-hop and Zouk styles in its performances. Predestined presents original music and choreography related to the experience of persons widowed and orphaned by the AIDS crisis.

Sam Tushabe, executive producer of "The Predestined" and founder of AOET says "This Music has been very instrumental in reaching young people with HIV/AIDS awareness programs. It has also helped us to widely sell AOET. This has helped us secure donations for orphans’ education and the well-being of widows." When the group tours, all generated funds are directly given to AOET programs.

Originally designed as a tool to sensitize the masses (especially young people) about the dangers of HIV/AIDS, the group has become a major source of funding for AOET and has created a great deal of publicity for their ministry

The group will perform for the public Wednesday, September 12, at 7:00pm in the Church of the Abiding Presence at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. A free will offering will be received, with all funds generated on the tour going directly to AOET programs.
