Majestic Dedicates New Steinway Grand
Piano
(8/8) Chart-topping Peter Cincottithe 22-year-old
singer, pianist, and composer who’s taken the music world by stormopens the
Majestic’s 2006-2007 season on Saturday, September 30. The 8:00 p.m. concert
features an unforgettable evening of classic pop and jazz standards and
original works. The performance by Cincotti, an official Steinway artist, marks
the official dedication of the Majestic’s Steinway Model D grand piano, which
is funded by the Robert C. Hoffman Charitable Trust.
Cincotti’s love for music began as a child. He tinkered
with a toy piano his grandmother gave him at an early age, and by the age of
nine he was already composing. In his mid-teens, Cincotti took up singing and,
as a high school student, played in clubs throughout Manhattan. He participated
in the National Grammy Band, was honored in the John Lennon Songwriting, and
was invited to perform at the White House. He also won a coveted award at the
Montreux 2000 Jazz Festival in Switzerland for his piano rendition of Dizzy
Gillespie's A Night in Tunisia.
But Cincotti’s most significant musical milestone
occurred in 2003 when his self-titled debut CD climbed to the top of the
Billboard charts. In September 2004, Concord Records released Cincotti’s second
recording, On the Moon, which showcased the young artist’s unique and
contemporary twist on such songs as I Love Paris, St. Louis Blues, and Some
Kind of Wonderful, as well as his own originals, including On the Moon and I'd
Rather Be with You. Critics lauded the recording, with The New York Times
declaring Cincotti "one of the most promising of singer-pianists of the next
generation." Cincotti is now recording his third album with producer David
Foster. It will be released early next year.
Cincotti’s busy international tour schedule has
included two sold-out shows at New York's Rose Hall, as well as performances in
London's Royal Festival Hall and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
He sold out the 2500-seat Grand Rex in Paris and received his first gold record
in France. Beyond the concert stage, Cincotti had a featured role in Beyond the
Sea, directed by and starring Kevin Spacey. The musician was also chosen as the
new face for the 2005-2006 suit collection of men's fashion powerhouse,
Ermenegildo Zegna.
