(3/14) Valerie Turnquist was appointed by the Town Council to the Planning Commission for a three-year term. The Planning Commission issues zoning certificates, enforces codes, reviews plans for development, conducts long-range planning and zoning studies, drafts legislation on planning and zoning issues, and communicates with the community as well as Frederick County on zoning and planning matters.

Scott Frager was re-appointed to another three-year term to the Board of Appeals. The Board of Appeals is made up of three residents appointed for three-year terms by the mayor and approved by the Commissioners. The Board of Appeals hears and decides appeals where it is alleged that there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official.

Carolyn Miller & Mark Miller were re-appointed to the Parks and Recreation Committee for two-year terms. The Parks and Rec Committee researches and proposes recommendations, rules, and policies to the board of commissioners necessary and appropriate for the governance of Emmitsburg's parks and recreational facilities. Commissioner Frank Davis is the council liaison for the Committee.

The Council also accepted Mark Walkers' resignation from the Citizens Advisory Committee. This committee researches and proposes general recommendations, rules, and policies related to quality of life issues in the town.
