(11/15) Enjoy an evening celebrating the
true meaning of Christmas at the 19th Annual “An Evening of Christmas Spirit.”
“In recent years, absolutely, this event
has increased,” said Mayor James Hoover.
The celebration will be on Monday, Dec. 3
from 6 – 9 p.m. It begins with the lighting of the town Christmas tree in front
of the Community Center on South Seton Avenue at 6 p.m. The United Church of
Christ will be caroling and Hoover will light the tree.
“I don’t think there’d be an official
treelighting if the Carriage House didn’t have their activities,” Hoover said.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., you can follow
Santa and his elves for more caroling. Horse-drawn surrey and hay trailers will
carry people through town. You can feast on free hot dogs and cookies. A live
Nativity scene will be set up in front of the Carriage House Inn. You can also
visit Santa and his elves at the inn. Local singers and musicians will provide
the entertainment.
The evening is free, but canned goods and
donations will be accepted for the Emmitsburg Lions Club Christmas Food Drive.
For more information, call the Carriage
House Inn at (301) 447-2366.
